I’m 65. I Added Light Therapy To My Routine. Here’s what I actually think.

At 65, my skin is not the same as it was ten or 20 years ago.
That is not a complaint. It is just reality.
Collagen production slows down. Elasticity changes. Skin cells do not regenerate as quickly as they used to. The face starts to look thinner. The neck and chest start to show more lines. Skin can become more reactive, drier, and slower to recover.
For a while, I thought the answer was simply doing more.
More appointments. More treatments. More products. More things to “fix” what was changing.
But after years of trying different beauty treatments, I started becoming much more selective.
I still care about looking put together. I still love feeling polished. I still want my skin to look healthy, firm, and maintained.
I just no longer want treatments that make me look unlike myself.
That was one of the reasons I stopped relying on Botox.
It worked in the sense that it softened certain lines, but over time, I felt like it started to look a little too obvious. Not dramatic. Not terrible. Just not as natural as I wanted.
And honestly, my friends could notice these things.
My friends could tell when someone had just had something done. I could tell too. It is not always bad, but it was not the look I wanted for myself anymore.
I wanted something that supported my skin instead of freezing it.
That is what led me to light therapy.

Why I Prefer Light Therapy Over Clinic Treatments
I am not against clinic treatments.
I have had facials. I have tried professional treatments. I understand why people like them.
But at this stage, I prefer things I can repeat consistently at home without needing to book an appointment, recover afterwards, or explain why my face looks a little different that week.
Botox can smooth expression lines, but it does not really support the quality of the skin itself. It does not help with thinning-looking skin on the neck, chest, or hands. It also needs to be repeated, and for me, the result started feeling less natural over time.
Microneedling can be helpful, but it is more intense. There is redness, sensitivity, downtime, and the skin barrier can feel fragile afterwards. I do not always want that. Especially now that my skin is drier and more reactive than it used to be.
Facials are lovely, but they can become expensive if you want to keep up the results. I still enjoy them, but I do not want my entire beauty routine to depend on getting to a clinic every few weeks.
Light therapy fits into my life much better.
It is easy. It does not hurt. It does not require recovery time. And most importantly, it is something I can actually repeat.
That matters because mature skin needs consistency.
Not one dramatic treatment every few months, but consistency.
It gives me a proper treatment step at home, without adding another harsh active or another complicated appointment.
Why I Chose A Panel

I sleep better when I use it at night. In winter, I find it easier to wake up when I use blue light before skincare. Little scars and joint stiffness also seem to bounce back faster.
But the main reason I keep using it is simple.
My skin looks more supported from face to chest.
And it still looks like me.
